Steve Davy
Steve began playing bluegrass music at an early age, and attended the very first bluegrass festival in Fincastle, Virginia with his family. There, he heard many of the first-generation bluegrass bands live. In his father’s band, Jim Davy and The Sounds of Bluegrass, and later his own band, Freelance, Steve performed extensively across Pennsylvania and New York. He currently performs with Bluegrass Express and Remington Ryde.
Doug Bartlett introduced Steve to the Rose mandolin, and he was immediately impressed by the sound and craftsmanship. Steve ordered Rose #47 and another musician persuaded him to sell it. Steve commissioned a second mandolin from Darby, which he proudly plays at every performance.
Steve praises these instruments for their consistent tone and exceptional quality.
Craig Fletcher
Joe Diffie, Trace Adkins, Lorrie Morgan, Mark Wills
Craig Fletcher developed a passion for music at an early age, playing in bands by the time he was 10. He performed at bluegrass festivals across Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and Arkansas, honing his skills alongside talented musicians. By the late 1980s, as many of his picking friends moved to Nashville, Craig followed suit, launching a two-decade career on the road with top country artists, including Joe Diffie, Lorrie Morgan, Trace Adkins, Darryl Worley, Buddy Jewell, Jimmy Bowen, Mark Wills, and Tanya Tucker.
In 2011, Craig decided to stay closer to home, focusing on local performances and recording sessions from his home studio via email collaborations. In 2023, he received a call from one of his longtime musical heroes, David Parmley, to join him for a run of shows. Over the next year and a half, Craig toured with David, where he was introduced to the exceptional craftsmanship of Rose mandolins. After seeing and hearing these instruments on the road, he knew he had to have one—leading him to acquire Rose #61, a perfect addition to his collection.
